Nebraska State Senator John Stinner visits Scottsbluff
Stinner gives concluding remarks for the 107th Legislature
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Nebraska State Senator for District 48 John Stinner comes to Scottsbluff. The Government Affairs Committee for the Scottsbluff Gering Chamber of Commerce hosted him for a luncheon at Scotts Bluff Country Club. Stinner gave closing statements about the 107th Legislature to residents about bills including property taxes, support for the arts and the budget. Also he fielded questions.
Stinner said the legislature had 684 bills on the floor to take up and talked about what he thought were the top three pieces of legislation that passed.
“We had some tax issues and I think that social security starting to reduce the taxes associated with social security was an important step,” said Stinner. “I think the overall budget covered a lot of things and that’s rebuilding the rainy day fund within the budget. Certainly property tax will be close to a million dollars a year in property tax relief. So those would be the three main items.”
Stinner said the legislature will for redistricting in September for a special session.
